MARCH  - 2009

The club met on March 11^th at the VFW in Shawano.  The Pledge of Allegiance was followed by the

reading of the February minutes, and the treasurer’s reports for Feb., showing a total balance in our funds

Randy Harden, President of WATVA, was guest speaker at the March meeting.  He addressed the

Mountain Bay Trail closures to ATV’s.  The Federal T-Grant provision that ATV’s are not allowed on the

 Mountain Bay Trail are being enforced.  Until Federal lawmakers overturn this law, ATV’s are

WEEKEND OF JUNE 19^TH AND 20^TH -  CLUB RIDE/WEEKEND at Lake Hilbert.     Book your

accommodations now.  There will be a poker run with this event. 

SPRING FLING will be held on Saturday, May 9^th.  If you know of a business that would

sponsor a trophy series for this event at a cost of $50, please have them contact Wendy.  Please mark th

 date on your calendar and plan to help out that day.  Thursday evening, May 7^th is scheduled for set-up

of the grounds.  A work sign-up sheet will be ready at the April meeting.  Discussion was held regarding

the rental contract for the sled and scale used for the pulls.  A contract will be signed with Lena Garden

Tractor Pullers at a cost of $600.

Monkey Butt ATV Club Spring Fling 2009 – Sunday, May 3^rd.  Side by side ATV dirt drag, ATV off road

challenge, and Horseshoe Mud Challenge, racing starts at 10 a.m.              Check it out on the web:

              Dave Schultz has scheduled the next Safety Class for April 28-30^th.  It will be at the Shawano

High School, hours will be 6:00-8:30 p.m. each evening.

THE GRESHAM BADLANDS RUN dates are August 15^th and 16^th.  Dates for workers to

mark the trails will be done on two Saturdays: July 25^th and Aug. 1^st.    Motion was made and carried that

lunch or a meal be provided for workers on those Saturdays.  We will sell raffle tickets prior to the

Badlands Run, with the Grand Prize to be an ATV purchased from Verne’s of Antigo.  – A 2009 Suzuki

400 King Quad Auto.  Motion was made that we pay $225 to the Shawano Leader for an ad in the 2009

Fun Guide for the Badlands Run.  Motion was made to pay Verne’s of Antigo a partial payment on the

ordered at this time, with the remaining monies to be paid as we sell the raffle tickets.

WATVA Annual Meeting will be held in Wausau on the 3^rd, 4^th, and 5^th of April.     Membership

 dues for the calendar year 2009 are due now, with the deadline for paying dues and remaining a club

member to be May 2009.  Please mail in your check made payable to Happy Trails ATV Club to:
