January 2010
There were no nominations or volunteers for the office of President at the January 13 meeting.  The members present discussed options to be able to keep the Club viable.  The Club voted to drop the Spring Fling for this year.  The weather has not always cooperated which has kept participation down.  By dropping the spring event it was felt that we could save a lot of work for the  little return we have had in the past couple years.
We are in need for someone to step forward to lead the Club.  Scott has volunteered to help the new President by attending town board and tribal board meetings with them. Please contact Scott, Marilyn or Dave if you are able to  help the Club out.  Wendy is also available to help  with the process.
We are gathering information on potential prizes for the summer raffle.  The  past several years we have raffled a new ATV, which is something we can do again this year.  If anyone has any thoughts or ideas for prizes other than an ATV please let Scott know.  We plan to discuss our option at the February 10th meeting.  Please plan on coming.
There will be 2 ATV safety classes sponsored by the Club.  The first will be held Shawano on February 9, 10 and 11 at the Shawano High School library.  Class will run from 6 PM to 8:30 PM each night.  The other class will be in Pulaski on March 9, 10 and 11 at the Pulaski High School.  This class will also be from 6 to 8:30 PM.  These classes are open to anyone 11 or older and cost $10.  To register for the Shawano class please call Marilyn at (715) 524-4744.  To register for the Pulaski class please call Dave Schultz at (715) 758-8711.    Any Trail Patrol/Instructors who wish to get credit for working at a class are invited to attend any or all of the class sessions.  To keep your eligibility  you need to assist with a class occasionally.
An American Red Cross First Aid class will be scheduled in the future for any Trail Patrol members interested.  This is a 3 1/2 hour class and will be paid for by the Club.  When the date and time are scheduled we will announce it in a newsletter.  Please watch for it!
Annual dues must be paid by May 1.  Single memberships are $15 and family memberships are $20.  Please send your check payable to Happy Trails ATV Club to Marilyn Burlo at W6449 Old Lake Ln., Shawano, WI  54166.  We will not be sending out separate notices for dues.
Looking ahead, the WATVA annual meeting will be held in Wausau on April 16, 17 and 18, 2010.
Next meeting is February 10 at the VFW in Shawano at 7 PM.  Hope to see you there.
Scott, Marilyn and Dave
